Parents who did not just help with homework or math but helped their children study. One day I ask a driver who had been delivering to my company for some time how his children were doing in school. He says, “One son not so good.” I show him a book on how to study and tell him if he gets his son to apply it, even a little, he will do better. I guarantee it.
Father gets the book and gives it to his son. Son reads the book and says, “So what dad!'
Father gets the son to read the book three times. Son does so and enrolls in an adult night school.
The son had been put in a special high school for failing students and father and mother had been told by the principal that the son would be lucky if he graduated six months late. The father did not think his son was going to graduate at all.
A month after he was supposed to graduate he tells his mom he is all done with school. She says, “What!” and calls the school only to find it is true! The son then goes and gets a job.
The next time I see the father he comes to me with tears in his eyes and says, “My son has totally changed! I can not put in words what this means to me!”
He tells this to several other fathers at his work and they get the book and have similar experiences.
Then there is my UPS driver. Several years ago he got this book for his son. He read the book to his son. He liked it so much he bought another copy for a friend. I recently talked to this driver who told me his son is now in the top of his class.
What is so special about this book? It is not about solutions to study problems like scheduling your time, taking breaks, rewarding yourself, pushing yourself, etc.
It is about what are the real problems in study and what to do about them.
1. Can't remember what you just read. There is a cause to this and something specific to do about it.
2. Feel heavy when studying, and being bent over. Again their is a cause and something to do about it.
3. Totally confused. There is a cause and something to do about it.
When you handle these you get understanding. Without this data you get people forcing themselves to study and coming out with all kinds of tricks to keep going. The student may memorizes the data and pass the test but without understanding he can not use the data very well in live.
What is the book? It is called Learning How to Learn for Teens and Adults and is available at http://www.elearnaid.com/lehowtolefor.html (The bald guy on this page is the first father I was talking about.)
I know it may sound too good to be true but I have seen the results over and over again. The woman at the bank and her daughter who is now in college. The real estate agent who insisted her children read the book and they never had any problems in school. Other drivers and their children. In fact I have sold hundreds of these books and the only returns I have gotten have been from parents who could not or would not get their child to read the book.
I would love to hear how much better your children are doing in school after reading Learning How to Learn!
© 2916 Bernard Littman I started and own a company called eLearnAid.com we have sold lots of dictionaries and started out selling dictionaries on CD. (Where the name comes from.) I have always wanted to pass on what I had learned about how to study and this story explains why. I hope you enjoyed it.
