Increasing the MPG by 13% and the Life of a Gasoline Car with fewer major expenses. What are the things that will increase the life any gasoline engine and increase your Mpg, Miles per gallon.
1. A clean engine! I am sure you have all seen the ads for Techron at a gas station. Well after taking two Prius past 270K miles I found this to be some what true. A clean engine is not happier but it does last longer and so does the catalytic converter! You should also get better gas mileage! On my first Prius with only 25,000 miles on the car, I found the oil stayed clean between oil changes. Then the oil would start to get dirtier and dirtier between changes as it started to burn more and more oil. At around 200k miles the catalytic converter was ruined and I scrapped the car at around 270k. 2nd Prius - The same thing happened at 270k miles I had to replace the catalytic converter and at 288k I had to replace the engine. I let it get so out of hand that the plugs fouled and I was constantly adding oil. I got another 12 thousand miles out of that engine by cleaning it out once. If I had kept on cleaning it I might have gotten 500k out of it.
If you let the oil burn get bad you can still recover to get at least some more life out of an engine that story is here.
I recently added Sea Foam HIGH Mileage Motor Treatment to the oil and the gas 245 miles before an oil change. This 2007 Prius had a replaced engine with around 100k miles on it and the Prius went from 42-43 mpg indicated on the center dash to 48 MPG! That is a 13% improvement! (The 48 Mpg is my normal short trip driving pattern on long trips I get 50 Mpg!) I just added Sea Foam to the gas and oil before an oil change. Follow the directions on the can.
2. Catch up on your normal maintenance. This even includes the easy step of making sure your tires are inflated. For more information go here: https://www.elearnaid.com/imgasmim.html
3. This applies to Toyota Hybrids before 2016.
There is no filter on the cooling air for the hybrid battery. If one battery cell in your hybrid battery heats up it can cause the whole battery to fail! Expensive cleanings help but a filter will solve the problem as long as you check the filter on occasion and if dirty clean it. We sell filters below and we provide stickers to remind you to clean the filter.
Vacuuming a filter in place is way easier than cleaning the fan and the battery. Which one would you rather do? See our filters below.
